ATS Commemorates World TB Day 2011

This month the ATS joins the global public health community to commemorate World TB Day, March 24. This annual event commemorates the date in 1882 when Dr. Robert Koch announced his discovery of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacteria that cause tuberculosis (TB).  While we celebrates Dr. Koch’s groundbreaking contribution, the ATS will use World TB Day to bring attention to the need for increased resources to eliminate TB in the U.S. and globally. In the U.S., the theme for World TB Day is “TB elimination: Together We Can!”

Support TB Elimination in the US!

The Congress is finalizing FY2011 funding for CDC and TB program funding now. The House has already passed legislation that would cut CDC funding by 17%.

Act now to urge your senators to oppose deep cuts to CDC and TB funding!
