About Us
Of the twelve assemblies of the ATS, the Critical Care Assembly has the largest number of primary and secondary members. The Chair of the Assembly, who serves for two years, is primarily responsible for developing and evaluating new initiatives and projects of the Assembly. Assisted by the outgoing assembly chair or the incoming chair elect she/he heads an executive committee in which all chairs of the assembly's key committees are represented. At present these include the chairs of the newly formed Planning Committee (Iasha Sznajder, Northwestern University, Chicago), the Program Committee (Marin Kollef, Washington University, St Louis), the International Affairs Committee (Jordi Mancebo, Hospital Sant Pau, Barcelona, Spain), the Nominating Committee (Didier Dreyfuss, Hôpital Louis Mourier, Colombes, France) and the Website director (Constantine Manthous Bridgeport Hospital, Bridgeport; and Yale University School of Medicine, New Haven, Connecticut).
The Nominating Committee is responsible for the selection of the candidates for Assembly Chair (on a bi-annual basis), for Chair of the Scientific Program Committee (on an annual basis) and for membership in the Nominating committee (2 positions). The candidates face election by the membership (closed ballot) at the Assembly's Business Meeting during the course of the Annual International Meeting. All other posts are appointed by the Assembly Chair. Information about Task Forces and Committees within the Critical Care Assembly, including their current membership, agenda and meeting minutes are provided on this Website.
