13th Annual RSF Assembly Dinner
March 2010
Dear Colleagues,
In conjunction with the 2010 ATS International Conference in New Orleans, you are invited to attend the 13th Annual Respiratory Structure and Function (RSF) Assembly Dinner. The dinner will be held Monday, May 17th at 7:00 pm, immediately following the annual RSF membership meeting. Assembly members and their students and fellows are invited to join us for an evening of good food, great company, and a very entertaining program.
Please note that the RSF Assembly Membership meeting will be held at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside Hotel (Jefferson Ballroom - Third Level), on Monday, May 17 from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. The agenda will be kept as short as possible, and will include a quick run down of ongoing activities and the election of new Assembly officials. Please join us at this important pre-dinner meeting to help shape the future direction of Assembly activities.
Then join us immediately afterward for the Assembly Dinner also to be held at Hilton New Orleans Riverside Hotel next door to the membership meeting in (Napoleon Ballroom - Third level). The evening activities will begin with cocktails at 7:00 pm followed by dinner.
Please note that this event has a maximum of 175 guests; these tickets will go fast, and in past years have rapidly sold out. Send completed registration forms to Georgia Noyan at gnoyan@thoracic.org or via fax at 212-315-6489.
Importantly, please encourage your trainees to attend both the membership meeting and the dinner; their participation will help them to integrate with their peer group and become more involved in society affairs.
As always, a high point of the night will be the annual presentation of Assembly awards. Travel awards will be presented to trainees in recognition of noteworthy abstracts at this year’s meeting. The Joseph R. Rodarte Award for Scientific Distinction is supported by a generous grant fromSensorMedics, a subsidiary of Viasys Healthcare, and recognizes distinguished career scientific achievements in the area of respiratory structure and function. The ATS Ann Woolcock Memorial Award, supported by an endowment established through the generosity of GlaxoSmithKline and the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand, will be presented to a young investigator for achievements and promise in the area of asthma research.
And to round out our evening, we are pleased to present our own Dr. Wayne A. Mitzner who will discuss
“Leonardo da Vinci and the Physiology of Respiration" This is a talk that you will not want to miss.
The total cost for the evening’s activities is only $30 per person. The ticket price has been substantially subsidized through the generosity of Merck who has provided us with a generous educational grant.
This dinner is an excellent opportunity for trainees both fellows and graduate students to get acquainted with Assembly members in an informal setting. We hope that you will join us and look forward to seeing you there.
