ATS Clinical Asthma Cases

Section Leaders: Jonathan Parsons, MD and Bethany Moore, PhD

The ATS Clinical Asthma Case section of the ATS Virtual Asthma Center provides an opportunity to share cases that provide insight into diagnosis and management of asthma-related clinical scenarios that one may see in practice. The format of submitted cases is outlined below and should follow the same format as cases on all ATS web pages. Cases may come from any Assembly within the ATS and are peer-reviewed for content and format by the AII assembly. All cases relevant to asthma will be considered for posting in the Virtual Asthma Center. We especially hope to encourage participation and contribution of cases by pulmonary and critical care fellows, junior faculty, practitioners, and medical residents.

Cases should include paragraphs concerning history, physical examination findings, and pertinent test results including radiographs and/or pulmonary function tests. Following the case presentation, a short quiz with 5 questions and 5 potential answers for each question should be provided which gives an opportunity for an evidence-based discussion of the diagnosis and management of the case. A link to detailed instructions concerning format of the cases is provided below. Authors should submit potential cases in a Microsoft Word document to either Jonathan Parsons, MD at jonathan.parsons@osumc.edu or to Beth Moore, PhD at bmoore@med.umich.edu.
