Assembly on Microbiology, Tuberculosis & Pulmonary Infections Junior-level Award

This award is given to an MTPI member (primary or secondary) with exemplary support and commitment to MTPI (and ATS), advancing the mission, and with potential or recognized contribution(s) to the MTPI Assembly in the area(s) of research, clinical care, teaching, or service (not necessarily leadership).  Individuals for consideration will include persons in-training, Instructor, or Assistant Professor (or Instructor or Assistant Professor equivalent) and <10 years from completing postdoctoral training.

Nomination for the MTPI Junior-Level Peer Recognition Award will also mean automatic entry into the Science Innovation Center’s Rising Stars of Research Program. The two runners up to the Award (who have research in the area of basic/translational science) will be chosen for this program. The two candidates will showcase their research by giving a 15 minute talk in one of two sessions featuring “Rising Stars”. Winners of the Rising Stars of Research Program from, AII, MTPI, RCMB, and RSF will present their work at the Science and Innovation Center during the ATS International Conference this May 2018. Certificates will also be awarded during the session.

Criteria

  • In-Training, Instructor, or Assistant Professor (or Instructor or Assistant Professor equivalent)
  • Less than 10 years from completion of postdoctoral training
  • Potential or recognized contribution(s) to the MTPI Assembly
  • MTPI Assembly Member (primary or secondary)
  • Nomination letter from sponsor(s) (2 page limit, using template) and updated CV of candidate
