Mentoring Program

AII Mentoring Program

"I enjoyed getting to connect with someone who is not only in the same field, but who has had experience just far enough beyond my level of training/experience to help provide useful and relevant advice, but had sufficient real word experience to provide credible and useful knowledge." - Amber Oberle, MD

Goals

  1. Provide an avenue for junior faculty and trainee participation and networking in the AII Assembly.
  2. Foster hybrid mentoring connections through individualized attention based on areas of interest. Participants can connect virtually or at the ATS International Conference.
  3. Help with navigating the ATS, the ATS International Conference, and the AII Assembly.

Expectations for Mentors

  1. Introduce yourself and start a dialog with the assigned mentee via phone, email, or social networking media before the ATS International Conference.
  2. Arrange a virtual or in-person meeting with the mentee.
  3. If your mentee is attending the conference, encourage the mentee to attend (with you) the AII Assembly membership meeting and Mentoring Reception.

Expectations for Mentees

  1. Introduce yourself and start a dialog with your assigned mentor via phone, email, or social networking media before the ATS meeting.
  2. Arrange a virtual or in-person meeting with the mentor.
  3. Be proactive about communication, while being considerate of your mentor's time.
  4. If your mentor is attending the conference, plan on attending the AII Membership Meeting and Mentoring Reception.
