Francis X McCormack, MD

Dr. McCormack has served as the scientific director and chair of the LAM Foundation's scientific advisory board since 1995. He chaired the annual LAM research conference from 1996 to 2010, and has served as a member of the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance professional advisory board since 2000. In these positions he has provided expert guidance and support for individuals with TSC and LAM. He was among the pulmonologists who helped to push forward research efforts that led to the first clinical trial for women with LAM.

Dr. McCormack first became interested in LAM after caring for LAM Foundation Founder Sue Brynes' daughter, who suffered from the disease. He is a passionate advocate for LAM research and has made significant contributions to the medical community's understanding of the disease, the clinical care of individuals with LAM and to the establishment of clinical trials for women with LAM.

Dr. McCormack was awarded this honor because of his incredible devotion to his patients with lung disease and his tireless involvement in the activities of patient advocacy groups.
