INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLYING

Letter of intent forms are available on the Foundant Technologies Website.
Detailed instructions on the full application can be found here.
Additional documents needed on the application (such as a biosketch template) may be found here.

Partnerships between junior and senior investigators are strongly encouraged, particularly for new investigators who are within 1 to 5 years of the completion of their research training.

Answers to frequently asked questions about the application process can be found here. Please review this document first before contacting Research Program staff as we are a small staff and, in general, are unable to discuss individual projects prior to or after the submission of an application. We encourage applicants to use resources such as mentors, grant officers, and peers. Due to the high number of submissions, we are also unable to provide customized feedback to applicants at the letter of intent stage.

ATS POLICY ON ADDITIONAL GRANT FUNDING

Simultaneous submission of grants with scientific overlap is allowed, but if multiple applications are funded, then the applicant must notify the Research Program within one month of formal notification of award. A subcommittee of the SAC will assess degree of overlap. In case of significant scientific overlap the applicant will have to choose between the ATS Foundation research grant and the other grant. Budgetary overlap is not allowed.

If your question is not answered in the FAQ, contact the ATS Foundation Research Program at researchprogram@thoracic.org.
