Five Questions to be Answered

  1. How can we identify acute renal failure in ICU patients?
  2. What can we do to protect an ICU patient against developing acute renal failure?
  3. Can we prevent acute renal failure developing in high-risk settings?
  4. How should we manage an ICU patient who develops acute renal failure?
  5. What is impact of renal replacement therapy on mortality and recovery?

Conference Objective

The purpose of the conference is to produce an informed debate presented in the form of five main questions on managing and preventing acute renal failure in an ICU patient. During this two-day conference, intensivists and nephrologists will make short presentations aimed at answering the five questions. Before the conference, the jury will be provided with background papers on the topics that the experts will be presenting. After the conference, the jury will prepare a consensus statement on the issues raised.
