Fellows Career Development AwardsApplication deadline: Monday, January 7, 2008 The ATS is pleased to announce the 2008/2009 Fellows Career Development Awards. The awards are available to fellows who are presently in training in combined pulmonary-critical care. In 2008 the ATS will provide eight one-year grants funded at $50,000. The program is funded by a generous unrestricted grant from GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). Award recipients will be announced in May 2008 at the pre-ATS International Conference Allergy-Pulmonary Fellows Program in Toronto. Please note that we will accept multiple applications from the same program. However, the intent of this fellowship is to fund only one applicant per program. Exceptions may be made if one of the applications is in pediatrics and the other one is in adult pulmonology/critical care. The grants are designed for academic career development beyond initial clinical training. Eligible candidates are trainees who are beyond 2nd year fellowship in pulmonary/critical care fellowship training programs. Individuals who already have full faculty positions are not eligible. The funding cycle for the 2008/2009 awards will begin July 1, 2008, and will conclude June 30, 2009. The award funds may be used for any combination of salary or laboratory support. The budget cannot exceed $50,000 in direct costs annually. Indirect costs will not be paid to the parent institution. During the period of this award awardees may not accept other training awards or external funds that provide stipend or salary support for the work outlined in this application. Additional salary support provided by the awardee's home institution is allowed. Awardees may accept grants and additional awards to fund budgeted research and other non-salary career development expenses, but these funds may not be duplicative of any such expenses funded by this trainee award. *New* for 2008: Online Application Process In our efforts to improve the application process we will be using an electronic grants submission process.
