Dr. Patty Lee is an Associate Professor of Medicine, in the Section of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine at the Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Irfan Rahman is Professor in the Department of Environmental Medicine at the University of Rochester School of Medicine. In a conversation with Dr. Maor Sauler, Drs. Lee and Rahman discuss the biology underlying the novel concept of lung aging, with a particular emphasis on cellular senescence, and the role of lung aging in the pathogenesis of common lung diseases, such as COPD and IPF.
