RCMB Stem Cell Working Group

Chair
Robert Freishtat, MD
The Stem Cell Working Group is comprised of physicians, researchers, and others interested in exploring the possibilities offered by recent exciting promise in the areas of lung stem cells, cell therapies for lung diseases, and in bioengineering functional new lungs that can be used in transplantation. Particular focus areas for the working group are promotion of research, funding, education, and public awareness of these rapidly developing areas. The working group is also active in educating patients, families, and caregivers on the growing problem of stem cell medical tourism and has forged links between the ATS and prominent stem cell research and clinical foundations to help combat this.
