National sleep apnea awareness day
Author: Omar Mesarwi, MD

Did you know that April 18 is Sleep Apnea Awareness Day? It’s an important day, not just because it allows us to advocate for the health of our patients, but also because it celebrates a milestone in OSA history. On April 18, 1981, Sullivan and colleagues published a case series of five patients who had OSA successfully treated by way of nasal CPAP. This was the first use of CPAP in the literature. Cool, right?
In honor of this day, you may want to make use of the list of patient materials about sleep apnea and a whole host of other sleep-related topics that the SRN Assembly maintains on their website.
