Ahmet Uluer, DO, MPH

Dr. Uluer is Director of the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Program and Director of the Weitzman Family Bridges Adult
Transition Program at the combined Boston Children's Hospital and Brigham & Women's Hospital Cystic Fibrosis
Center. He is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Uluer is also a member of the
American Thoracic Society, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Cystic Fibrosis Research Institute. Dr.Uluer
has helped to shed light on the cystic fibrosis disease process, conducted research that led to FDA-approved
therapies, conducts current research to identify new cystic fibrosis therapies, has mentored countless others in the
field, and shares countless volunteer hours to support the goals valued by the ATS.

Dr. Uluer’s clinical and research interests involve all aspects of cystic fibrosis care, including quality improvement
initiatives, transitional care and outcomes research. He is very interested in complications related to current
pulmonary therapies, including nephrotoxicity and ototoxicity. As the Director of the Weitzman Family Bridges
Program, he is working on transitional care processes and outcome measures for those with childhood-onset
chronic diseases. When Dr. Uluer entered the field of pulmonology, those diagnosed with cystic fibrosis -which
remains the most common fatal genetic disease in the United States with no current cure –faced significantly
shortened life expectancy. Some of the vital therapies used today by cystic fibrosis patients as part of their
standard protocol for care were tested through clinical trials of which Dr. Uluer played an important role.
