Ferreira A, Garvey C, Connors GL, et al.  Pulmonary Rehabilitation in Interstitial Lung Disease:  Benefits and Predictors of Response.  Chest 2009;135;442-447.  While extensive data exists supporting the benefits of pulmonary rehabilitation in COPD, recent evidence is emerging regarding the benefits to those with ILD.  This multicenter observational study of 113 patients with ILD demonstrated that 6-8 weeks of pulmonary rehabilitation provided modest but significant improvements in (Borg) dyspnea score and 6 minute walk distance.  The improvement was most pronounced in those with the lowest baseline performance, and gives weight to the argument that pulmonary rehab should be considered in the core management of ILD.
