Thoracic Society Chapters
Under the banner of American Thoracic Society, thoracic society chapters represent states or wider geographic areas. Each chapter designates a representative to the Council of Chapter Representatives (CCR). The CCR then elects a chair, and that individual, along with the immediate past CCR chair and CCR chair elect, act as voting members on the ATS Board of Directors.
The chapters and CCR are integral to the identity of the ATS, as they provide a forum in which clinicians are able to reach a consensus on issues of education, practice, research, and public policy and present their findings and concerns to the Society. These branches also serve as a path to leadership for clinician members.
From here, you can connect with chapters through their leadership and council representatives, learn when and where meetings are being held, discover relevant chapter publications, link to information about ATS advocacy initiatives and issues, and obtain more information about the Outstanding Clinician Award and Great Cases symposium that are sponsored each year by the CCR and presented at the International Conference.
