The ATS Sleep and Respiratory Neurobiology Assembly coordinates the society’s activities in these areas. We have established a section of the website to support sleep issues, an important area for many of us. This section will include Sleep Fragments, a current offering on the website and the Assembly’s first ever web-based educational tool entitled “Web-Based Learning in Sleep.” This initiative, which started last year, builds on the 2005 ATS statement “Curriculum and Competency Assessment Tools for Sleep Disorders in Pulmonary Fellowship Training Programs,” which set forth standards for training programs, continuing education and re-certification in pulmonary and internal medicine. This tool is a three-part presentation on “Structure and Function of the Upper Airway: Implications for Sleep Apnea.” The instruction is directed towards fellows in training programs, and includes pre- and post-test questions of knowledge. CME credit is available through the ATS.
Suggestions for further development are always welcome.
