As part of the “Lung Disease Week at the ATS” program, and in conjunction with ATS Public Advisory Roundtable (PAR) partners the Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research (FSR) and the Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia Foundation (PCDF), the American Thoracic Society presented a live patient education webinar on Wednesday, March 22nd from 12:00-1:00 pm ET. The topic of the webinar was “Lung Health: Where Are We Going?” and the featured panelists are Tom Ferkol, MD, professor of medicine and division chief of pediatrics at the University of North Carolina and Bobak Akhavan, MD board certified internal medicine specialist at Cedar-Sinai Marina del Rey. Other discussants are Mary McGowan, CEO of the Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research, who is also a member of ATS PAR, and Michele Manion, president of the Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia Foundation and current chair of ATS PAR. The discussion was focused on looking ahead to what is on the horizon regarding lung health for patients in these two disease communities.
