Title: Single-cell RNA sequencing identifies diverse roles of epithelial cells in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis

This Journal Club was sponsored by the Section on Genetics and Genomics (SGG) and the Assembly on Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology (RCMB). It featured the article: “Single-cell RNA sequencing identifies diverse roles of epithelial cells in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis” by Yan Xu, Jeffrey A. Whitsett and colleagues, which appeared online in the Journal of Clinical Investigation Insight on December 8, 2016. The first author, Yan Xu, PhD, is the Director of the Bioinformatics Core, Neonatology & Pulmonary Biology and Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Cincinnati. Senior author Jeffrey Whitsett, MD, is Professor of Pediatrics and Chief of the Section of Neonatology, Perinatal and Pulmonary Biology at the University of Cincinnati.

Anny Xiaobo Zhou, Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Channing Division of Network Medicine, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and Naftali Kaminski, Boehringer-Ingelheim Endowed Professor of Internal Medicine and Chief of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at Yale University School of Medicine participated as discussants.
