Vaccines are products that are used to help protect people from getting sick when exposed to an infecting germ. Vaccines target specific types of germs by getting the body to make antibodies. Vaccines do not protect against all infections. The act of getting in injection or taking an oral vaccine dose is called getting an immunization (or vaccination). Most people know children get immunizations, but there are some that are designed to be given to adults too.
