On World TB Day, the American Thoracic Society, along with our partners in the Forum of International Respiratory Societies (FIRS), urges governments to leverage the success of the first-ever United Nation (UN) High-Level Meeting (HLM) in the fight against tuberculosis, held in 2018. The meeting produced a UN political declaration on TB and the endorsement at the highest level to take the necessary steps to end the TB epidemic. Read the press release.
The American Thoracic Society improves global health by advancing research, patient care, and public health in pulmonary disease, critical illness, and sleep disorders. Founded in 1905 to combat TB, the ATS has grown to tackle asthma, COPD, lung cancer, sepsis, acute respiratory distress, and sleep apnea, among other diseases.
