Journal Club

Journal Club & Webinars

The goal of the Assembly on Thoracic Oncology Journal Club is to provide perspective on what’s important to thoracic oncology clinicians and researchers.  We aim to have the Assembly on Thoracic Oncology Journal Club provide an insider’s view of the latest news, evidence, and opinions in the world of thoracic oncology.  We designed our Journal Club to be a go-to resource for the myriad clinicians who care for patients with thoracic malignancies and the researchers who are studying ways to improve that care. Using a webinar or text-based journal club format, we will call your attention to new studies and developments in the basic and clinical sciences. We will also highlight non-lung thoracic oncology papers as well as the papers and advancements that non-pulmonologists are reading, as well as new developments and evidence in the world of advanced bronchoscopy and interventional pulmonology.

We want our Journal Club to cater to your needs so that it becomes an important resource. We’ll do our best to guess what you want but please give us feedback (toa@thoracic.org). We like kudos but we’d rather hear what we can do better to meet your needs. If you are interesting in contributing, please contact us as well.

The Assembly on Thoracic Oncology is please to announce its next Journal Club (JC) on April 7th at 4pm EDT.

Dr. Hiren Mehta from the University of Florida will present the article “Evidence for Expanding Invasive Mediastinal Staging for Peripheral T1 Lung Tumors” CHEST 2020; 158(5): 2192-2199 PMID 32599066. We will be joined by discussion panelists C. Matthew Kinsey, MD, MPH (senior author, University of Vermont), Roberto Casal, MD (MD Anderson Cancer Center), and Nicholas Pastis, MD (Medical University of South Carolina).

We use a web-based platform, which allows real-time discussion both online and on the phone making this an interactive journal club. Please use a landline phone or VoIP for the call.

You will need to register for the webinar in order to participate in the journal club. To reserve your Webinar seat today click here.
